Federal Government Grants

Federal Government Grants Federal government grants are available from almost every department in the federal government. Ranging from the Department of Human Services to the Environmental Protection Agency, federal government grants opportunities are available to social service agencies and corporate entities. Federal government grant solicitations that are geared toward social services agencies are funds that the federal government has allocated to address the needs of a defined population. The majority of federal government grant solicitations that are available to businesses entities, small business and large corporations alike, include: federally supported research opportunities, assistance in utilizing renewable energy sources in their operations; and assistance in growing their workforce. Examples of each of these federal government grant opportunities are provided in detail below.

Federal government grants for social service agencies include grants for those organizations serving victims of violent crime, assisting the mentally challenged, assisting the elderly, assisting children, providing housing for low income individuals, providing medical care to low income individuals with restricted access to care, serving families and children in meeting their basic needs, and providing services to at-risk youth. The US Department of Transportation Federal Transportation Administration provides federal government assistance for Transportation for Elderly Persons and Persons with Disabilities. The US Department of Housing and Urban Development provides a federal government grant solicitation for the Neighborhood Stabilization Program Technical Assistance and Capacity Building grant. The Department of Health and Human Services allocates a federal government grant entitled "Affordable Care Act Capital Development-Building Capacity Grant Program" to eligible social service agencies for increasing their capacity to provide primary and preventative health services to medically underserved populations. The Department of Health and Human Services also administers the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) federal government grant which provides assistance to families in need in meeting their basic needs. The US Department of Labor offers a federal government grant solicitation for the YouthBuild program, a program designed to assist at-risk youth in obtaining an education and job skills. Federal government grants are also available to entrepreneurs. The federal government currently has open solicitations for small businesses seeking federal government assistance for research, the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant and the Small Business Technology Transfer (SBTT).
